The Cove Waterpark is proud to present Red Cross learn to swim program. We offer classes for people of all ages and abilities. Designed for all levels, classes allow swimmers to develop good habits in, on and near water, become comfortable in the water learn and refine new strokes and become a stronger, and safer swimmer. Want to start your life guarding experience early? Join our Jr. Lifeguard program and become part of our team! We recommend ages 10-14. This program is focused on teaching participants the key aspects to preventing injuries and ensuring safety in and around the water. This course will guide participants through activities to learn skills that could prepare them for a full Life guarding Course. Participants are welcomed and encouraged to shadow our awesome Cove lifeguards in their daily job duties. Shadow shift sign-up times will be available for pick-up. COURSE PREREQUISITES Course Cost: $200.00 per session Early drop off 8:00am-12:00pm additional cost $200.00 Lunch $100.00 The American Red Cross Life guarding program is your first step in becoming a lifeguard! Through online worksheets, videos, group discussion, and hands-on practice, you’ll learn guest rescue and surveillance skills, first aid and CPR/AED. Class schedule can change if minimum class number is not reached Friday classes 4:00p-9:00p and Saturday and Sunday 09:00am-05:00pm both days Prerequisites Must be at least 15 years old AND be able to demonstrate the following: Course fees for StandGuard Aquatics employees are covered by Corporate office. To attend class you MUST have completed pre requirements, and all eLearning content plus bring the following supplies: whistle on lanyard, fanny pack and CPR rescue mask. Junior Life guard
Before entering Junior Lifeguarding, participants must
demonstrate the following skills:
■ Swim the front crawl for 25 yards continuously
while breathing to the front or side.
■ Swim the breaststroke for 25 yards using a pull,
breathe, kick and glide sequence.
■ Complete the Water Competency Sequence.
Water Competency Sequence
■ Complete the water competency sequence
without stopping.
1. Step into water from the side
and totally submerge.
2. Maintain position for one minute by treading
water or floating (or a combination of the two).
3. Rotate one full turn and orient to the exit.
4. Level off and swim on the front or back
25 yards.
5. Exit without using a ladder or steps.

CPR TRAINING
Course Dates:
Trains Lifeguarding instructor candidates to teach American Red Cross Lifeguarding Lifeguarding Blended Learning Shallow Water Lifeguarding Aquatic Attraction Lifeguarding Waterpark Skills CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Bloodborne Pathogens Training. Prerequisites: Minimum age: 17 years Possess a current Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED complete the Online Session for the Lifeguarding Instructor course and complete the precourse session. Note: To teach Waterfront Skills Lifeguarding instructors must possess a basic-level Waterfront Skills certificate.
